Sponsorship Opportunities and Benefits

Middle Georgia is gearing up for the Fifth Annual Brig. Gen. Robert L. Scott, Jr. Memorial Golf Scramble April 16 at Healy Point Country Club in Macon. The tournament honors Scott, a World War II flying ace and author of God Is My Co-Pilot, who passed away on February 27, 2006, two months before reaching his 98 th birthday.

“This tournament honors the achievements of a great American and hometown hero and helps the Museum continue its work of preserving aviation history and educating the next generation,” said Pat Bartness, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Museum of Aviation Foundation. “Scott loved this Museum, his home state of Georgia and the city of Macon where he was raised. He especially loved talking to the thousands of kids who come to the Museum each year. His memory will live on forever in the hearts and minds of everyone in Middle Georgia and those around the world that knew him.” Scott flew World War II combat missions in China with the famed Flying Tigers and is remembered for his patriotism and staunch support for a strong national defense. God Is My Co-Pilot was made into a movie which premiered in Macon in 1945.

Golfers have a choice of an 8 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. tee time. The four-person scramble will include a noon lunch at the clubhouse, greens fees, riding cart, range balls, a distinctive commemorative golf shirt and an evening birthday celebration buffet. Prizes will go to the top four foursomes. Golfers receive one free ticket to the evening celebration and additional guests are invited to the evening clubhouse buffet at 6:00 p.m.

A kick-off reception will be held February 3 at the Idle Hour Country Club. A large committee of Middle Georgia supporters will once again call on businesses and individual donors to take part in the tournament. The tournament chairman is Carolyn Crayton, and co-chairpersons are Oliver Bateman, Jr., Marshall Butler, Gene Dunwody, Guy Eberhardt and Lowell Register. To register, golfers should call the Museum of Aviation Foundation at 923-6600 or email marylynn.harrison@museumofaviation.org. For more information go to www.museumofaviation.org.
